Terms of Service
Effective May 11, 2026.
The deal
Chester is a free-to-play chess game made by Superfun Games (Clark and Angie Wimberly, Austin TX). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site.
Who can play
Chester is intended for users 13 and older. Players under 18 should have a parent or guardian's permission.
Be a good opponent
Please don't:
- Use display names that are slurs, harassment, impersonation, or otherwise designed to make other players feel unsafe. We filter the obvious cases; we'll reject the rest by hand.
- Use bots, automated tooling, or third-party engines to play moves for you in a lobby game. Chester is for human opponents who want to play other humans.
- Scrape, crawl, or hammer our API. Play nice with the servers.
- Try to break into accounts, exploit bugs to abuse the payment ledger, or otherwise interfere with the service.
Your content
You're responsible for your display name and the moves you make. We may remove or rename anything that violates these terms, breaks the law, or just feels off.
Our content
The Chester app — its code, art, sounds, copy, and the chess-with-swap rule set — belongs to Superfun Games. You can play it. You can't repackage it as your own product. Open-source dependencies remain under their own licenses.
The payment ledger (George's gig)
One specific user, George, is paid by Superfun Games to show up in the public lobby. That payment ledger is a private agreement between the Wimberly family and is not a promotion, sweepstakes, or offer to anyone else. Beating George is its own reward.
No warranty
Chester is provided "as is." We make no guarantees about uptime, fairness of matchmaking, accuracy of stats, or the availability of any specific feature. We may add, remove, or change things without notice.
Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Superfun Games is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages from using Chester. If something goes wrong, the most we owe you is what you paid us. Chester is free, so that's zero.
Changes
If we update these terms in a way that affects your rights, we'll bump the effective date at the top and post a note on the home screen. Continuing to use Chester after that means you accept the new terms.
